Reflecting on Our Workshop in London: A Step Forward in Our Handbook on Ageing and Gender in European Cinema

We are pleased to reflect on our recent workshop in London, focused on developing our handbook on Ageing and Gender in European Cinema. The event was both productive and inspiring, marking an important milestone in our ongoing work.

A special thank you to our UK Team Dr. Belén Vidal and Dr. Luis Freijo and King’s College London for their exceptional support and organization. Your efforts ensured the smooth running of the workshop, and we are deeply grateful for your hard work and dedication.

We are also very grateful to Dr. Deborah Jermyn, our invited guest and a renowned expert in ageing and the media, for her valuable feedback. Her knowledge and insights were incredibly helpful, and we look forward to integrating her suggestions as we move forward with the project.

It was inspiring to see how ideas, hard work, and collaboration come together to create something meaningful, and we look forward to continuing this journey. Thank you all for your contributions and for making this workshop a success!

Together we conduct and empirical study of how filmmakers and audiences view and interpret issues of old age and gender in European cinema. Our research helps us better understand the current state of European cinema and has further implications for health care and cultural policy
