About me
I am Professor of Film Studies at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle (Department of Film and Audiovisual Studies), where I was appointed in 2009. Previously I worked as a senior lecturer at the Université de Nancy and at Paris Nanterre Université, where I was Professor of Film Studies from 2005 to 2009. Since 2014, I have been Head of the Doctoral Programme Arts & Medias (Ecole doctorale Arts & Médias) at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle. My research work, combining film analysis, gender studies and cultural history, focuses on film genres, French cinema (conceived transnationally), popular spectacular forms, and the them of ageing. From Spring 2019 to spring 2023, I was Co-I with Dr. Mary Harrod (PI, University of Warwick) of the AHRC-funded international network Producing the Post-National Popular: The Expanding Imagination of Mainstream French Films and Television Series.

My AGE-C story
I’ve already explored the question of ageing in cinema through the prism of ageing stars (Depardieu, Huppert), examining the new visibility of ageing characters, actresses and actors in contemporary French cinema, as well as its limits. For me, the AGE-C project is a fantastic opportunity to broaden my scope to include European overview and to work collectively, with established researchers and a team of talented post-docs, on a topical and essential issue for graying European societies and their film productions.
