AGE-C – Breaking New Ground

AGE-C breaks new ground in three ways:
- Through a renewed and intensified focus on gender and gender-related power differentials in cinematic production and representation and particularly by shifting the focus and updating earlier feminist approaches towards old age and gender;
- By adding a transnational comparative perspective to star studies, a field previously focused mostly on individual actors and national cinemas, and
- By combining film analysis with production studies and digital methods and connecting film studies to other areas of gerontology and gender studies in a systematic fashion, with potential rewards for policy.
