New collaboration with the European Film Academy

The Female Age
Ageing Women in 21st Century Eastern European Cinema
A new _UNDERSCORE special focus by the European Film Academy turns the spotlight on this often overlooked topic in contemporary cinema: ageing women in 21st-century Eastern European film.
The programme, “The Female Age: Ageing Women in 21st-Century Eastern European Cinema,” was developed by AGE-C team members Asja Makarević, Boglárka Angéla Farkas, and Andrea Virginás. Their selection highlights powerful and complex female protagonists navigating social change, family relations, and shifting cultural perceptions of ageing.
Bringing together films such as Blaga’s Lessons, Honeyland, Brama and Spoor, the programme explores how contemporary Eastern European cinema rethinks ageing, gender, and the place of older women in society.
